The Arboretum de Chamberet is a public arboretum located in Parc d'Angle in Chamberet, Corrèze, in the Limousin region of southwestern France, covering approximately 10 to 20 hectares on the Plateau de Millevaches.
Created as an experimental site for testing tree species suited to the local granite soil, it features a collection of 105 tree species including both native Limousin trees like beech, birch, and oak, as well as exotic species such as the Araucaria from Chile, bald cypress, catalpas, and Ginkgo biloba.
The arboretum also includes about 60 varieties of fruit trees, bamboos, protected natural environments including a peat bog, a willow grove, and a pond with ducks, plus an animal park with hens, geese, ducks, sheep, goats, alpacas, pheasants, and pigs. Visitors can follow the Tree and Nature Trail featuring audio terminals that tell short stories at different locations, and enjoy physical activities including a fitness trail, orienteering course, mini-golf, swin golf, and disc golf, with equipment rental available at the Maison de l'Arbre.
The site offers free, unrestricted access year-round, with a visit taking approximately 1.5 hours, and is complemented by the nearby Maison de l'Arbre et de la Nature museum that opens from April 1 to October 31. Chamberet itself is labeled a "green station" and is located 50 km north of Tulle, renowned for its green landscape and exceptional natural environment.
