The Arboretum du Grenouillet is a public arboretum located in Gorniès, a small commune in the Hérault département in the Occitanie region of southern France, and it is one of the main sights of the village.

Situated in the Cévennes area within the Cévennes National Park, the arboretum is part of an ecological reforestation project focused on the Montagne de l’Aigoual, which began in the early 20th century to restore forests that had been severely damaged by centuries of exploitation and wildfires.

Created starting in the 1920s as part of efforts to replant local tree species and preserve the region’s unique biodiversity, the arboretums of Sud Cévennes—including du Grenouillet—serve as living laboratories where visitors can observe how different tree species adapt to local conditions, resist diseases, and contribute to sustainable forest management.

The site offers a secret, free, and accessible forest with gentle walking paths that provide a peaceful alternative to typical tourist routes, allowing visitors to discover the history and evolution of this reconstituted forest while experiencing exceptional landscapes rich in animal and plant species that were once threatened.
