Botanical Garden of Orchaise Priory
France, France
The Botanical Garden of Orchaise Priory, officially known as the Parc botanique du Prieuré d’Orchaise, is a small botanical park of about 3–3.5 hectares at the foot of the Romanesque priory and church in Orchaise, Loir‑et‑Cher in the Centre‑Val de Loire region of France.
It overlooks the Cisse Valley and is planted with over 2,200–2,500 trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants from around the world, including notable collections of peonies, roses, rhododendrons, hibiscus, and aquatic plants, all arranged in a classic French‑style layout with winding paths and two small lily ponds.
The park grew from the private collection of Hubert Treuille, a botanically minded world traveler, and was opened more widely to the public later, winning the first prize of the Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France in 1993 for its quality and plant diversity.
It is generally open daily (except Fridays) in the warmer months on a limited schedule or by reservation, charges a small admission fee, and functions as a quiet, intimate garden spot for visitors exploring the Loire Valley countryside.
