Château de Ballon is a medieval fortress in the commune of Ballon-Saint-Mars in France's Sarthe department, Pays de la Loire region, built in the 11th century by Robert de Bellême on a promontory overlooking the Saosnois River valley about 20 km northeast of Le Mans for strategic control of roads between Maine and Normandy.

It endured sieges during the Hundred Years' War under lords like Jean de Ballon, was burned by Philip Augustus in the late 12th century then rebuilt, and saw Renaissance-style reconstruction of its keep and dwellings in the 15th-16th centuries, forming a horseshoe-shaped enclosure with corner towers and moat that remains listed as a historical monument.

Today the high keep with its guard room and defensive features stands amid remarkable gardens—labeled Jardins Remarquables—featuring lime avenues, medieval walled plots, orchards, and rose gardens open to visitors seasonally, offering a peaceful taste of medieval history without crowds.​
