Château de Cinq-Mars is a medieval castle in Cinq-Mars-la-Pile, Indre-et-Loire, whose origins date back to the 12th century, with important additions made during the 13th, 15th, and 16th centuries.

Built on a rocky spur, it served as the stronghold of local lords and was protected by moats, towers, and fortified walls. The castle is closely linked to Henri Coëffier de Ruzé, Marquis de Cinq-Mars and a favorite of King Louis XIII. After his execution for conspiracy in 1642, Cardinal Richelieu ordered much of the fortress to be demolished, leaving only parts of the original stronghold standing.

Today, visitors can still see several surviving towers, sections of the fortifications, and the surrounding moats, which provide a glimpse of the castle’s former grandeur. The château is privately owned and is protected as a historic monument, reflecting its importance in the history of the Loire Valley.
