Château de Commequiers in Commequiers, France, is a striking 15th-16th century fortress built by Louis de Beaumont using white Sallertaine stone, featuring a unique hexagonal layout with eight massive round towers connected by curtain walls, designed like a smaller version of the Bastille for defense.

Originally a stronghold in northern Vendée under lords like the Viscounts of Thouars, it changed hands during the Wars of Religion, ending up with Protestant La Trémoille family before Louis XIII ordered its partial destruction in 1628 to curb Huguenot power.

Now a protected historical monument owned by the commune since the 1960s, the restored ruins on a moated islet host medieval festivals, offering visitors a glimpse of military architecture amid scenic Vendée countryside.​
