Château de Creully is a historic Norman castle whose origins date back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

Originally a noble residence, it was transformed into a fortified stronghold during the Hundred Years’ War and gradually expanded with features such as a square keep, an octagonal tower, ramparts, and Renaissance additions. Located between Caen and Bayeux, the château is considered one of the most important medieval castles in the Calvados region.

Its architecture reflects centuries of change, combining medieval defensive elements with later residential and Renaissance features. The castle is also notable for its role in World War II. Shortly after the D-Day landings in June 1944, the BBC established a radio studio in its square tower, from which correspondents reported on the Battle of Normandy. Today, the château houses a radio museum and remains an important historical and cultural landmark.
