Château de l'Empéri is a historic medieval fortress located in Salon-de-Provence in southern France.

Built on a rocky hill overlooking the Crau plain, it is one of the oldest surviving castles in Provence and among the largest medieval fortresses in the region. Originally home to the Archbishops of Arles and associated with the Holy Roman Empire, the castle played an important political and military role for centuries.

Its name comes from the Provençal word for “Empire,” reflecting its historical ties to the empire. Today, the château is a major cultural landmark and houses a renowned military history museum featuring collections that span from the Ancien Régime and Napoleonic era to the modern period. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of Salon-de-Provence, historic architecture, and gardens inspired by the work of Nostradamus, who lived in the town.
