Château de la Motte-Glain is a historic castle located near La Chapelle-Glain in Loire-Atlantique, western France.

Built mainly in the late 15th century by the influential nobleman Pierre de Rohan-Gié on the site of an older medieval fortress, it stands near the former border between Brittany and Anjou and reflects both defensive and residential architectural traditions. The castle is notable for its blend of late Gothic and early Renaissance styles, featuring an impressive gatehouse with round towers, elegant residential buildings, a chapel with a 16th-century fresco, and decorative stonework.

It hosted several important royal visitors, including Charles VIII, Anne of Brittany, Charles IX, and Catherine de’ Medici. Unlike many French castles, Château de la Motte-Glain has remained in private ownership for centuries and is remarkably well preserved. Recognized as a protected historic monument, it offers visitors a glimpse into the transition from medieval fortress design to the more refined architecture of the Renaissance period.
