Château de la Punta is a distinctive 19th-century château located in the hills above Ajaccio, near the village of Alata in Corsica.

It is famous for being built largely from stones recovered from the Palais des Tuileries in Paris, which was destroyed by fire in 1871. The materials were transported from Paris to Corsica and reassembled between 1883 and 1891 by the Pozzo di Borgo family. The château was designed as both a prestigious residence and a monument to family heritage, combining Corsican landscapes with architectural elements inspired by one of France’s most important royal palaces.

Its elevated location offers impressive views over the Gulf of Ajaccio and the surrounding mountains. After suffering severe damage in a wildfire in 1978, the château underwent decades of decline before restoration efforts began. Today, it is recognized as an important historic monument and remains one of Corsica’s most unusual and symbolic heritage sites, linking the island’s history with that of Paris and the former Tuileries Palace.
