Château de Tours is a historic castle located beside the Loire River in the oldest part of the city of Tours.

Its origins date back to the 11th century, when it served as a fortified residence for the counts of Anjou before being expanded into a royal fortress and residence during the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, the castle played many roles, including royal residence, military stronghold, prison, barracks, and administrative center.

Although much of the original medieval complex was demolished or altered, parts of its towers and fortifications still survive, reflecting its long and varied history. Today, Château de Tours is a protected historic monument and cultural venue. Rather than functioning as a traditional palace museum, it is known for hosting major photography and contemporary art exhibitions, combining the atmosphere of a medieval castle with modern cultural experiences.
