Château du Plessis-Bourré is a remarkably well-preserved castle located in Écuillé, about 15 kilometers north of Angers in France’s Loire Valley.

Built between 1468 and 1473 by Jean Bourré, a close adviser to King Louis XI, it is considered an outstanding example of the transition between the medieval period and the early Renaissance. Surrounded by wide water-filled moats and featuring a working drawbridge, the château combines the defensive features of a fortress with the comfort and elegance of a noble residence.

Its richly decorated interiors, painted ceilings, and historic rooms offer a glimpse into the lifestyle of French aristocracy centuries ago.
