Commequiers is a small rural commune in the Vendée department of France's Pays de la Loire region, located about 40 kilometers north of La Roche-sur-Yon near the Atlantic coast.

With a 2023 population of around 3,735 residents known as Commequiérois, it features the impressive ruins of a mid-15th to 16th-century château built by Louis de Beaumont, retaining eight striking round towers amid a once-formidable fortress.

The area boasts the region's largest megalithic ensemble—including dolmens like the Pierres Folles and menhirs—plus a Romanesque church of Saints Pierre et Paul, a vélorail on the old Nantes-La Roche railway, and annual medieval festivals that immerse visitors in history.

Once agriculture-focused, it now thrives on tourism with green spaces, sports facilities, and proximity to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie beaches.
