Crèvecœur-le-Grand is a historic commune in the Oise department of northern France with a rich heritage dating back to the 12th century when it became a seigniory. The town's castle, featuring 12th-century walls and defensive structures including a moat, served as a refuge for villagers during attacks. Historically, the area was known for its wool production and artisan weaving, with textile craftsmanship playing an important economic role through the 17th and 18th centuries.

The town faced several attacks and destruction during various conflicts, including pillaging in the late 1500s and heavy bombing in both World Wars, earning it the Croix de Guerre for its resilience. Crèvecœur-le-Grand also hosted important historical figures such as King François I, who stayed there in 1520 before the Field of the Cloth of Gold meeting.

Today, the town retains its cultural traditions with festivals, fairs, and its historical architecture like the lord’s dwelling and chapel reflecting its medieval past.
