La Croix-des-Gardes is a protected natural hill and neighborhood in Cannes, France, dominating the city center and offering a unique green oasis just less than one kilometer from the famous Croisette on the French Riviera.

The site features an 80-hectare forest classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, and serves as Cannes' "green lung" with umbrella pine forests, diverse maquis vegetation, and an arboretum containing 40 different varieties of mimosa trees.

Visitors can explore 20 kilometers of walking trails through calm and restful landscapes with numerous panoramic viewpoints offering 360-degree views of the Lérins Islands, the Mediterranean Sea, and distant snow-capped Alps, while sports enthusiasts can use the 3.1-kilometer marked health trail with exercise equipment suitable for all fitness levels.

The name originates from a 1525 legend where King François I installed a garrison of Swiss guards at the hill's summit to watch for suspicious boats, and today the area combines beautiful nature with spectacular views, making it a paradise for walkers, joggers, and anyone seeking peace away from Cannes' bustling city life.
