Domaine de Suscinio is a historic estate on the Rhuys Peninsula in Brittany, best known for its impressive medieval castle, which served as a residence for the Dukes of Brittany.

Built from the 13th century onward, the castle was originally designed as a leisure retreat near the sea and forests used for hunting, before evolving into a fortified ducal residence of major political importance. Over more than 800 years of history, Suscinio played a significant role in Breton affairs and even sheltered the future King Henry VII of England during his exile in the 15th century.

After periods of decline and partial ruin, the site was restored and preserved as one of Brittany’s most important heritage landmarks. Today, the estate combines the restored castle with protected coastal marshes and natural landscapes rich in wildlife. Visitors can explore the ramparts, towers, and historic rooms while enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic coast, making Suscinio a unique blend of history, architecture, and nature.
