The Eiffel Tower, located in Paris, France, was designed by engineer Gustave Eiffel and built between 1887 and 1889 as the centerpiece for the 1889 International Exposition celebrating the French Revolution’s centenary.

It stands about 300 meters tall and was the tallest man-made structure in the world when completed. Made of over 18,000 precisely engineered iron pieces joined by 2.5 million rivets, the tower was constructed with extraordinary precision and took just over two years to complete. Initially criticized by many for its unconventional design, the iron lattice structure soon became a symbol of architectural innovation and engineering mastery.

Its open framework allowed it to withstand strong winds, and the tower served as both an entrance to the exposition and an enduring icon of Paris and France. The construction involved hundreds of workers and was noted for its safety measures, with only one fatality during the entire project.
