Épinac is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the Burgundy region of France with a rich history dating back to the 11th century when it was originally called Monestoy.

The Château d'Épinac, built in the 14th century and extensively restored in recent years, stands prominently on a plateau overlooking the Drée valley. The castle features two main wings arranged at an angle, square towers from the 14th century including the oldest north-western tower with its original drawbridge gate, and a polygonal turret containing a spiral staircase.

It has finely carved bas-reliefs, decorative friezes, and monumental fireplaces inside, highlighting medieval art and craftsmanship.

The castle has been home to several noble families over the centuries and remains privately owned, offering a glimpse into Burgundy's medieval heritage and architectural grandeur. Épinac itself carries historical significance, having gone through noble ownership changes and was renamed from Monestoy in the 17th century.​
