Gratot, located in the Manche Department of Normandy, France, is known for its ruined medieval Château de Gratot, which dates back to the 14th century.

The castle was originally built by the Argouges family and underwent various transformations until the 18th century. It features architectural elements from different periods, including a 15th-century lord’s house, an 18th-century pavilion, and two late medieval towers, with the notable octagonal "Fairy Tower" adorned with gargoyles and balusters. According to local legend, a lord of Gratot married a fairy who vanished after he unwittingly uttered the forbidden word "death."

The castle was neglected in the 19th century and used as a warehouse but was restored starting in 1968 by volunteers. Today, it is a protected historic monument open to the public, drawing visitors with its blend of fairy-tale charm, history, and cultural events held on-site. The castle grounds include moats and gardens, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of this Normandy landmark.
