Jardin des Paradis - Cordes-sur-Ciel
Cordes-sur-Ciel, France, France
Jardin des Paradis is a remarkable contemporary garden located on the last fortified terraces of the medieval village of Cordes-sur-Ciel in the Tarn department of southwestern France, designed by renowned landscape architects Eric Ossart and Arnaud Maurières and opened to the public in 1998.
Inspired by Islamic and oriental paradise gardens with medieval influences, the garden is organized across three terraces and stimulates all five senses through its carefully crafted blend of contemporary, oriental, and medieval styles. Notable features include a rectangular pond, and the garden has been labeled a "jardin remarquable" (remarkable garden) for its harmonious combination of refined aesthetics and environmental respect.
Like an oasis in the desert, it offers visitors a cooling peaceful halt within the historic village, where they can also enjoy artisanal ice creams, a snack bar, and on-site dining. The garden is open seasonally from May through September with varying hours, and admission costs 4–5 euros for adults and 3 euros for children.
