Le Champ-Saint-Père
France, France
Le Champ-Saint-Père is a commune in the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region of western France.
Historically, during the French Revolution, the village was renamed Champ-Perdu, and local tradition speaks of many fairies gathering in the region. In the late 18th century, inhabitants of Le Champ-Saint-Père participated in the battles of the Vendée uprising against revolutionary forces. The commune experienced relative peace afterward, except during the 1832 revolt when some locals joined the insurrection.
The arrival of the railway in the 19th century brought significant development and growth to the area, modernizing the once quiet rural community.
