Les terrasses du Pech is a moderate hiking trail starting in Foix, France, at the spot marked “Début de sentier” near the sign “Les Terrasses du Pech” just off the historic Pont Vieux (Old Bridge).

The path begins under a porch in a small passage at 6 Cours Bouychères, entering a forested trail called the “chemin des asperges” (asparagus path) that climbs in regular bends through the woods on Foix’s upper slopes. As you ascend about 3.2 kilometers with roughly 230 meters of elevation gain, the trail opens onto surprising dry-stone terraces—remnants of old agriculture that give the route its name and a distinctive charm.

The walk leads to a scenic belvedere offering an exceptional panoramic view of Foix’s medieval castle (Château de Foix) and the Barguillère valley below, blending natural beauty with historical heritage. The round-trip hike takes around 2 hours, is well-marked with interpretation panels explaining the dry-stone construction and local farming history, and requires good shoes and water due to the steady but manageable climb.
