Termes-d'Armagnac Tower
Termes-d'Armagnac, France
The Termes-d'Armagnac Tower in France is a 36-meter-high medieval keep from the late 13th to early 14th century, built by Jean, Count of Armagnac, to oversee and protect the borders of the Armagnac province. It is the only remaining part of the original vast castle and served as a strategic fortress in Gascony, housing lords' chambers and defensive structures.
The tower is associated with Thibault d'Armagnac, a notable knight who fought alongside Joan of Arc. After the French Revolution, the castle was largely dismantled, but the tower was restored in the 1960s by the local commune and converted into a museum displaying regional history and medieval life.
Visitors can explore its multiple levels, medieval reenactments, and enjoy panoramic views of the Adour valley and the Pyrenees.
