Bell Tower of the Annunziata Holy Church
Corfu, Greece, Greece
The Bell Tower of the Annunziata Holy Church is one of the most recognizable historic landmarks in Corfu Town and the only surviving part of the former Annunziata Church. The church was originally built in the late 14th century during the Venetian period and was dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary and Saint Lucia. The church was heavily damaged during German bombing in World War II and was later demolished in 1953, leaving only the bell tower standing. As a result, the tower has become an important symbol of Corfu’s Venetian heritage and a reminder of the island’s complex history. Located in the heart of Corfu’s UNESCO-listed old town, the bell tower is admired for its distinctive architecture and historical significance. Today, it serves as a prominent monument and a popular landmark for visitors exploring the city’s historic streets.
