The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is one of the most famous landmarks in Rhodes and one of the finest surviving medieval castles in Europe.

Originally built as a Byzantine fortress and later transformed in the 14th century into the headquarters and residence of the Knights Hospitaller, it served as the political and military center of their rule on the island. The palace features impressive Gothic architecture, massive towers, fortified walls, grand courtyards, and richly decorated halls.

It suffered damage from earthquakes and an explosion during Ottoman rule but was extensively restored during the Italian period in the 20th century. Today, the palace is one of the highlights of Rhodes’ UNESCO-listed Medieval Old Town.
