Pente Pigadia, meaning “Five Wells,” is a small historic settlement in the Epirus region of northwestern Greece, known for its strategic mountain pass and fortifications.

The area gained importance during the Ottoman era because it controlled key routes between Arta, Ioannina, and western Epirus. The site is best known for its forts, built in the early 19th century under the rule of Ali Pasha as part of a wider defensive network. These stone fortifications were designed to guard mountain passes, protect communications, and control movement through the region.

Pente Pigadia also became the scene of an important battle during the First Balkan War in 1912, when Greek and Ottoman forces fought for control of the area. Today, its surviving forts and peaceful mountain setting make it a notable historical landmark that reflects the military and political history of Epirus.
